What website monitoring means

Website monitoring is the practice of checking a site automatically and continuously, so you hear about a problem before your customers do. Most people start with uptime: is the site reachable right now. But a site can be up and still be failing visitors, because it is painfully slow, or because it quietly breaks a legal obligation such as a missing privacy notice.

SREmonitor covers those three areas together rather than asking you to stitch three tools into one workflow: availability, performance, and privacy compliance.

What SREmonitor monitors

• Uptime: automated checks every 5 minutes, recording availability, error rate, status code and p50 and p95 response latency. See uptime monitoring.
• Performance: Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) plus First Contentful Paint and Time to First Byte, measured in a real browser and rolled into a 0 to 100 score. See website performance monitoring.
• Privacy and GDPR: an automated review of your published privacy policy against a UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 checklist, with a score and severity-ranked issues. See the GDPR compliance checker.
• Alerts: email and webhook alerts when a metric crosses a threshold you set, with sensible defaults so you are not tuning rules on day one.

How it works

You add your site URL. SREmonitor starts running scheduled checks, stores the history, and shows availability, speed and compliance on one dashboard. When something crosses a threshold you get an alert, and on Pro you can export a PDF compliance report to share with a client or keep on file.

There is nothing to install on your site for the core checks. Monitoring runs from outside, the way a visitor would experience it.

Website monitoring for small businesses

A small business rarely has an engineer watching dashboards. The aim here is that one tool tells you the three things that cost you customers or create legal exposure, in plain language, without a setup project. The Free plan monitors up to 3 endpoints, which covers a typical brochure site, shop or booking page.

Website monitoring for agencies

Agencies need to know about client-site problems before the client calls. The Pro plan monitors up to 20 endpoints, and the optional white-label add-on puts your own name and logo on alert emails and PDF compliance reports instead of SREmonitor's, so the reports read as your service.

What it does not do

Being clear about limits matters more than a longer feature list.

• Checks run from the UK, not from many locations around the world, so it will not tell you how a visitor in another continent experiences your site.
• Alerts are sent by email or webhook. There are no SMS or phone-call alerts.
• Performance figures are lab measurements from a real browser, not field data collected from your actual visitors.
• The compliance check reviews your published privacy policy. It does not inspect what cookies your site actually sets (a cookie scan is planned but not available yet) and it is not legal advice.
• Pro covers up to 20 endpoints per account.
